When people talk about the Flying Doctor, thoughts generally turn to red-bellied planes undertaking rescue missions in the Outback. However, the current Victorian story is one that reflects today's challenges for people living in remote and rural communities across the state. While we do still transport people by air and by road, this work is complemented by a range of primary health services that address the most common issues people living in country Victoria face when accessing health care.

About the role
The role
The People & Culture Advisor – Volunteers provides support for RFDSV’s volunteer programs to build organisation capacity and capability in the effective management of volunteers, ensuring the management of volunteers is in line with RFDSV’s strategic objectives and legislative requirements, ensuring high quality volunteer placements are provided.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
- Implementing the RFDS Volunteer Framework
- Attraction, recruitment, selection and retention of RFDSV Volunteers
- Developing induction and training programs to ensure volunteers have the opportunity for development and are aware of their role
- Maintaining volunteer information, tools, resources and an information kit
- Developing and implementing a volunteer recognition program
- Implementing an annual volunteer event as part of National Volunteer Week
- Monitoring and reporting on volunteer records to ensure required licences and compliance checks are maintained
Qualifications, knowledge and skills required
- Qualifications in Coordination of Volunteer Programs or HR Management
- Demonstrated experience in human resources or volunteer management
- Thorough understanding of the National Standards for Volunteer involvement
- Knowledge of Industrial Relations, recruitment processes, human resources and OHS
- Implement of information technology systems – Better Impact highly advantageous
This position will require travel across RFDS sites and a full Victoria Drivers License is required
Mandatory requirements:
In line with RFDS Victoria’s mandatory policies, all employees are required to undergo a National Police Clearance, hold a Working with Children Check and have 3 * Covid vaccinations and annual influenza vaccination.
